Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati inaugurated the Egyptian–Eritrean Business Forum on Saturday, in the presence of Eritrean President’s Economic Adviser Hagos Gebrehiwet, Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, and Eritrean Minister of Trade and Industry Nesredin Mohammed-Saleh.

The forum explored prospects for expanding economic, trade, and investment co-operation between the two countries, amid growing momentum in bilateral relations and increasing efforts to boost strategic partnership between Cairo and Asmara.

During the event, Abdel-Aati highlighted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to advance economic and trade co-operation with Eritrea across a wide range of sectors in a manner that serves the shared interests of both nations.

The foreign minister hailed the recent visit to Cairo by Eritrea’s economic adviser and minister of trade and industry, describing the talks held with Egyptian officials as constructive and fruitful. He stressed Egypt’s keenness to build on the positive outcomes of those discussions and maintain the current momentum in bilateral ties.

Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening co-operation in economic, investment, industrial, and developmental sectors, particularly in transportation, construction, pharmaceuticals, mining, fisheries, railways, and logistics services.

He noted that such collaboration would support Eritrea’s national development plans and help fulfil the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

He also underscored the importance of sustaining technical assistance programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and professional training schemes aimed at developing Eritrean expertise across multiple sectors. In addition, Abdel-Aati stressed the need to expand Egyptian private sector participation in the Eritrean market and boost opportunities for Egyptian exports in a way that promotes economic growth and regional integration.
