Three military planes carrying large quantities of humanitarian aid as well as medical supplies and search and rescue teams from the Red Crescent took off from military base heading for Libya to assist in mitigating the effects of Storm Daniel that left large numbers of people dead and injured.
The move comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to immediately provide support and humanitarian aid to Libya.
The planeloads of aid arrived at Libya’s Al Abraq air base in preparation for distributing the aid to the areas badly hit by the storm.
The aid comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to help brotherly countries mitigate impact of disasters.
Libya has called for international aid after a devastating flood killed thousands, with many still missing. Tens of thousands have been displaced.
