The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemns the attack targeting a commercial cargo vessel within the territorial waters of the sisterly State of Qatar.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday, Egypt further said that such acts represent a grave violation of international law and established principles governing the freedom and security of maritime navigation.
They also constitute a serious escalation that threatens the safety of international waterways and disrupts global trade and regional stability, it noted.
In this respect, Egypt reaffirms its full solidarity with the State of Qatar and expresses its unwavering support for all measures undertaken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and territorial waters, as well as to ensure the continued safety and security of maritime traffic.
Egypt further reiterates its deep concern regarding the continued escalation in the region and warns of the severe consequences such developments may have on regional peace, security, and economic stability.
Additionally, it calls for restraint, respect for international law, and intensified efforts to preserve regional stability and protect vital navigation routes.
