Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across Africa by providing the Republic of Chad with additional dialysis equipment and medical supplies, as part of ongoing efforts to expand bilateral co-operation and improve access to specialised healthcare services.
The third shipment of Egyptian-provided dialysis equipment was handed over during a ceremony in N’Djamena, the Chadian capital, under a joint initiative involving the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population.
The ceremony was attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to Chad and received extensive coverage in Chadian media, including Arabic- and French-language outlets.
The latest shipment comprises 10 dialysis machines and 10 specialised chairs, bringing the total number of units supplied by Egypt to Chad over the past two years to 35.
The assistance is intended to strengthen the capacity of Chadian healthcare institutions to provide specialised treatment for patients suffering from renal failure.
Chad’s Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Abdelmadjid Abdelrahim expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s continued support for his country’s healthcare sector, highlighting the breadth of cooperation between the two nations.
He pointed to the deployment of Egyptian medical convoys and the agreement on pharmaceutical and medical supplies, which facilitates the entry of Egyptian medicines into the Chadian market.
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador to Chad described the initiative as an extension of the longstanding partnership between the two countries in healthcare.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting public health and improving the medical services available to the Chadian people.
