Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, met on Saturday with female military nursing personnel and nursing teams serving at military hospitals and medical centres across the field armies and military zones via video conference.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Minister of Awqaf Osama Al-Azhari, and a number of senior Armed Forces commanders.
Zaher conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings and appreciation to the nursing teams.
He stressed the Armed Forces’ commitment to developing its medical system and providing advanced training programmes.
He said the programmes aim to help nursing staff keep pace with developments in the medical field.
Zaher also stressed the humanitarian nature of military nursing. He described it as a noble mission that reflects patriotism, compassion and determination.
The defence minister discussed work procedures and healthcare services with nursing staff.
He also listened to their views and questions about improving the work environment.
He praised their awareness of the responsibility they carry in providing healthcare services.
For his part, Minister Al-Azhari delivered a lecture on the religious and humanitarian aspects of nursing.
He said serving people and easing their suffering are among the noblest acts of worship.
He also praised the nursing teams’ role in caring for Armed Forces personnel and Egyptian citizens.
