Egypt has condemned in the strongest terms the airstrike that targeted international relief workers with the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in the Gaza Strip, leaving seven of them dead.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, said that Egypt categorically rejected Israel’s act of continuing to target humanitarian aid organisations, which played a vital role in confronting the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
It also called for bringing to account those responsible for these blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Egypt also renewed its call for Israel to implement UN Security Council resolutions demanding safe and sustainable access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip,
It also stressed that the continuation of Israel’s deliberate violations of all international laws and norms, and its indifference to humanitarian considerations will complicate the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Egypt called for an urgent and serious investigation that leads to holding accountable those responsible for these deliberate human rights violations committed against the Palestinians.
It also underlined the need to comply fully with all UNSC resolutions related to an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring safe and sustainable access to humanitarian aid, and protecting all humanitarian aid workers, taking into account their efforts that alleviated the burden of the humanitarian crisis that the residents of the Gaza Strip have witnessed over the past months.
