Egypt renewed its call on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities in halting Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, ensuring respect for the historical and legal status of these sites, and upholding international law and relevant UN resolutions to restore security and stability and maintain the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two‑state solution.
