Egypt on Tuesday denounced Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, where Israeli occupation forces have bombed the Gaza Strip, leaving at least 13 dead and 20 others injured, so far.
The pre-dawn Israeli airsrikes targeted several homes and residential buildings across the besieged Gaza Strip, killing and injuring scores of children, women and civilians, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also, a group of extremist settlers stormed Al Aqsa mosque compound earlier in the day, under the protection of the Israeli forces.
Cracking down on several other Palestinian towns has continued, last of which was carried out in the West Bank city of Nablus.
The statement underlined Egypt’s absolute rejection of such aggression which contradict provisions of the international law and legitimacy as well as contributing to igniting the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Also, such attacks would undermine efforts meant to reach a truce and defuse tension, within the framework of agreements reached at the meetings of “Sharm el Sheikh” and “Aqaba” on paving the way for the stalled peace process.
