Egypt’s Foreign Ministry denounced on Tuesday Colombia’s decision to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, describing it as a violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
The statement said the move undermines Syria’s legitimate and inalienable rights to its territory. Egypt stressed that Israel must withdraw from the occupied Golan, adding that any measures aimed at legitimising the annexation carry no legal effect and do not alter its status under international law.
Reaffirming its consistent position, Egypt reiterated support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and its right to the Golan Heights. The ministry called for respect of international law and the UN Charter, and urged all parties to avoid steps that entrench occupation or destabilise regional peace and security.
