Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday strongly denouncing the assault on the Kuwaiti tanker Keifan while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which left several crew members injured. The ministry described the incident as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law and the principles of freedom of navigation, warning that it threatens Gulf security and the safety of international maritime routes.
The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and national interests. Cairo reiterated its categorical rejection of any aggression targeting Arab states or threatening international shipping and global trade lines.
The ministry called for an immediate halt to all escalatory acts, urging respect for international law and the UN Charter, and stressing the need to prioritize diplomatic and political solutions to contain tensions and preserve regional and global stability.
