Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi inspected sports industries in Yiwu, China on Thursday.
The minister stressed the importance of boosting the mechanisms for joint cooperation between Egypt and China in modernising the sports facilities with advanced technologies.
Sobhi went on to say that his ministry is keen to develop industries that support sports.
The ministry has undertaken4 massive sports projects worth $20 billion in the last four years.
Egypt is increasingly reliant on the sports industry to drive economic development and attract investment, the minister added.
The AstroTurf factory set up with the collaboration between the Ministry of Military Production and the Ministry of Youth and Sports is a tremendous boon to the economy Sobhi said.
It is the only factory in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa that uses high-quality raw materials from Germany, Sobhi added.
For his part, Mayor of Yiwu Wu Yongti hailed Egyptian-Chinese relations by sharing relevant expertise, sports programmes and initiatives in youth and sports.
Yiwu city is an impressive location for tourism and industry, he said.
