Means to boost bilateral relations between Egypt and Chad featured high during a diplomatic meeting in Cairo on Saturday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met the newly appointed Chadian Foreign Minister, Ahmat Kogri, on the sidelines of the Alamein-Africa Forum.

During the meeting, the two chief diplomats probed ways of boosting bilateral relations and advancing co-operation between the two countries.

The meeting also covered a number of regional issues of mutual interest, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Nader Zaki said.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s keenness to continue co-ordination and consultation with Chad to advance shared interests.

He stressed the importance of carrying out the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby to boost bilateral relations and follow up on the outcomes of the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee.

The two sides also discussed agreements, memoranda of understanding and co-operation projects agreed during the committee’s meetings.

The two ministers exchanged views on ways to promote peace, security and development across Africa. They agreed to step up co-ordination at both bilateral and multilateral levels in support of their shared interests to promote stability and development on the continent.

Following the meeting, Abdelatty and Kogri, in the presence of Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Drug Authority and Chad’s Ministry of Health on pharmaceuticals, biological products and medical supplies.
