An Egyptian diplomatic delegation has held consultations with Chadian officials to activate a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries. The talks formed part of the fourth session of the Egypt–Chad Joint Committee, convened under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The delegation included Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel‑Aatti, Transport Minister Kamel El‑Wazir, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Abdel Aziz Konsowa, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Chad Tarek Youssef.

Following the discussions, Abdel Ghaffar and Chadian Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Abdelmadjid Abderahim, signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen Chad’s healthcare sector.

The agreement provides for an intensive training programme for healthcare managers and professionals. It includes the establishment of specialisedcentres covering neonatology, paediatric oncology, general surgery, gynaecological oncology, neurosurgery, cardiology, nephrology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, haematology, ENT, intensive care and trauma services.

Egypt will also train pharmacists, laboratory staff, intensive‑care technicians and biomedical equipment specialists. Support will extend to developing local pharmaceutical manufacturing and facilitating the import of Egyptian medicines, medical supplies and equipment through official channels.

The MoU covers technical assistance to establish trauma and oncology centres, regional hospitals and primary healthcare facilities, including maternal and child health services. Egypt will supply specialised medical equipment and provide expertise to strengthen Chad’s healthcare infrastructure.

The agreement allows for referring Chadian patients to Egyptian hospitals, setting up an emergency medical services centre in Chad, and deploying Egyptian medical teams and specialists.

Co-operation will also focus on reproductive health and the prevention and treatment of communicable and non‑communicable diseases.
