Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom outlined key pillars of a “New Economic Agenda” to strengthen partnership between Arab countries and Brazil, stressing Egypt’s ability to serve as a strategic hub and logistics bridge linking Latin American markets with Arab and African markets.

He made these remarks in a recorded keynote address to the fifth Arab-Brazilian Economic Forum, held in São Paulo under the theme “The Global Economy in Transition.”

Rostom said the global economy is undergoing complex transformations that are reshaping energy markets and supply chains, requiring a focus on four areas of common interest: developing logistics, strengthening financial stability, supporting the energy transition and securing supply chains.

He noted that integrating Brazil’s agricultural technology with Egypt’s logistical capabilities and regional trade agreements would provide a cornerstone for enhancing food security.

Rostom highlighted Egypt’s infrastructure development efforts under Vision 2030, saying that major investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and modern transport networks offer Brazilian companies an advanced platform for efficient manufacturing and distribution.

He also pointed to Egypt’s expansion in green hydrogen and solar energy projects, calling for joint ventures to reduce emissions and secure clean energy.

Rostom stressed that while governments set strategic visions, “the private sector remains the main driver of real economic transformation.”

He called for removing trade barriers and providing innovative financing for value-added projects, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to initiatives that translate the forum’s vision into tangible economic outcomes.
