Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Tuesday from his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional developments, escalating tensions and efforts to de-escalate the situation.
Abdelatty stressed the need for an immediate halt to all attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, saying there is no justification for such attacks and that they were unacceptable.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nader Zaki said Abdelatty underscored the importance of de-escalation and containing regional tensions, given their negative impact on the security and stability of countries across the region and the world.
Abdelatty also stressed the need to prioritise political and diplomatic solutions and return to negotiations and dialogue between Iran and the US, describing them as the only way to resolve existing disputes and prevent the region from sliding into further escalation and instability.
