Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati, reiterated on Thursday Egypt’s full solidarity with Lebanon in confronting the current delicate challenges.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s position calling for the complete withdrawal of Israel from all Lebanese territories, stressing that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Minister Abdel Aati made these remarks as he received a phone call from Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the call, Minister Abdel-Aati emphasised the importance of supporting the Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Armed Forces, to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities in extending state authority and sovereignty over the entire national territory.
He further underlined the necessity of ensuring the state’s monopoly over the use of force, describing it as a cornerstone for preserving Lebanon’s security and stability, reinforcing state institutions, and safeguarding the resources of the Lebanese people.
Minister Abdel-Aati also reaffirmed Egypt’s continued commitment to supporting Lebanon and its national institutions, in line with the strong fraternal relations between the two countries, and in a manner that contributes to strengthening Lebanon’s security, stability and unity.
For his part, Lebanon Prime Minister Salam expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance and its consistent backing of Lebanon during this critical period.
