Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty took part in the Egypt–Burkina Faso Business Forum on Tuesday , alongside Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Karamoko Traoré, senior officials, business leaders, and representatives of chambers of commerce from both countries.

Abdelatty stressed that the forum reflects the determination to translate political ties into concrete projects, investments and jobs, building on his July 2025 visit to Ouagadougou where a similar forum was held. He pointed to priority sectors for cooperation including infrastructure, construction, building materials, food industries, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, chemicals, fertilisers, agricultural machinery, energy and mining, as well as plans to establish a direct flight between the two countries. He underlined the government’s focus on strengthening direct links between chambers of commerce and private sector actors, describing them as the main drivers of sustainable economic cooperation.

He also referred to preparations for the upcoming Alamein–Africa Forum, scheduled for 2–4 October, which will serve as a platform to boost investment and trade partnerships. Abdelatty invited Burkinabé companies to participate actively and explore opportunities with Egyptian and African counterparts.

Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Karamoko Traoré expressed appreciation for the strong ties with Egypt and affirmed his country’s commitment to creating a favourable climate for Egyptian private sector participation and investment. He voiced hope that the Egypt–Burkina Faso Business Forum would lead to practical and sustainable partnerships, increasing trade and investment volumes in line with the distinguished political relations between the two nations.

This forum underscores Egypt’s drive to expand African economic partnerships, strengthen Burkina Faso relations, promote private sector cooperation, and advance regional trade integration.
