Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el Hefny met Matthew Butters, Vice Chairman of the British Aviation Group (BAG), to discuss cooperation on upgrading Egyptian airports and expanding the use of British expertise in airport planning, operations and management.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in the UK, with the attendance of representatives from the British Embassy in Cairo and the Egyptian Embassy in London.
Hefny said that Egypt is implementing a comprehensive plan to modernise its airports through infrastructure upgrades, increased passenger capacity, digital transformation and smart technologies to improve efficiency and service quality.
The two sides also discussed opportunities for British Aviation Group companies to participate in future airport development projects, particularly in infrastructure, digital systems and airport operations.
For his part, Butters expressed the group’s interest in expanding cooperation with Egypt and taking part in upcoming airport projects. El Hefny also invited BAG officials to participate in the El Alamein International Airshow in September.
