CAIRO – Undersecretary of the Senate Phoebe Fawzy said that Egypt has transformed from an influential regional actor into a global strategic partner.
In statements to MENA, Fawzy added that the world was dazzled by the brilliant organization of the fourth edition of the World Youth Forum, which concluded its activities in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh Thursday.
She went on to say that the determination of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to hold the forum, despite the global outbreak of infections by the Omicron variant of coronavirus, was strong evidence of Egypt’s ability to organize such a worldwide event.
The senator noted that the WYF drew the attention of international media, given the key issues that were raised during the forum.
She explained that President Sisi has been keen to shed light on the important role played by young people in the country’s development strategy.
Fawzy stressed that the WYF served as a starting point for the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP 27) that will kick off in Sharm El Sheikh in November.
The Senator stated that Egypt is moving steadily towards progress, thanks to the successful political, economic and social policies implemented by the State.
