Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, held separate telephone conversations on Thursday night with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. The discussions focused on regional developments following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.

During his call with the Pakistani Foreign Minister, Abdel-Aati welcomed the agreement, describing it as a crucial step towards reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region. He also praised the efforts of Pakistan and other regional partners in helping to facilitate the deal.

In turn, Ishaq Dar expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role — carried out in coordination with regional partners — in supporting the negotiation process and helping to bridge differences between the involved parties.

Both ministers emphasised the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation in the coming period. This collaborative approach aims to ensure the implementation of the MoU and to work towards a final, sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties while strengthening diplomatic paths to regional security and stability.

In a separate conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Abdel-Aati highlighted the significance of the MoU in easing tensions and preventing further instability across the region. He expressed hope that the agreement would mark a turning point, fostering long-term security and opening the door to resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Egyptian minister also commended the coordination between regional and international partners that led to the agreement, reiterating his hope for a lasting deal that respects the interests of all sides.

Araghchi thanked Egypt for its sustained diplomatic efforts over recent months. He noted that Cairo’s high-level contacts were instrumental in bridging gaps and overcoming challenges during negotiations, ultimately creating favourable conditions to secure the MoU.
