Egypt supports the nomination of Lana Zaki Nusseibeh for the post of United Nations secretary-general, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday.
The source cited Nusseibeh’s diplomatic skills, extensive international experience and contributions to multilateral work, as well as her distinguished career serving international causes, MENA reported.

Egypt sees an opportunity to draw on her diplomatic experience and knowledge of international peace and security issues to help advance the UN’s goals, the source said. Her appointment could also strengthen confidence in the multilateral system.
The source added that Egypt’s close ties with the United Arab Emirates called for supporting its brothers in international forums and working together to bolster Arab representation, in the hope of serving regional causes and the common good of the region’s countries.
