Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk met with Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various agricultural fields. The meeting is part of Egypt’s efforts to expand its international partnerships.
The meeting, which was also attended by Engineer Mostafa El-Sayed, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, addressed mechanisms to enhance joint agricultural investment, engage the private sector and businesspeople from both countries, as well as collaboration in several areas such as seed production, land reclamation, and water use efficiency.
The Minister of Agriculture emphasized the importance of encouraging exchanges of visits between businesspeople and investors from both countries, establishing investment forums, and holding workshops to explore available investment opportunities on the ground.
During the meeting, the Minister presented investment opportunities in major national agricultural projects being undertaken by the Egyptian government, noting the possibility of establishing joint projects that rely on modern irrigation and agricultural technologies.
Farouk also highlighted the strong global reputation of Egyptian products and Egypt’s readiness to meet Armenia’s needs for strategic goods, fruits, and vegetables.
The meeting also addressed strengthening cooperation in training and building the capacities of agricultural technical staff through specialized research centers in both countries.
For his part, the Armenian Minister expressed his appreciation for the significant progress in Egypt’s agricultural sector and affirmed his country’s desire to deepen economic partnership and benefit from Egypt’s outstanding expertise in this vital sector, particularly in land reclamation and water use efficiency, to achieve mutual benefits for both nations.
This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 6th session of the Egyptian-Armenian Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, which is currently hosted by Egypt.
