Egyptian Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Hani Hanna stressed on Monday the importance of strengthening institutional co-operation between Egypt and the Arab Parliament, enhancing co-ordination and exchanging expertise to improve the performance of Arab parliamentary institutions and their ability to address issues of common concern.
Hanna made the remarks during a meeting with Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohamed Ahmed Al Yamahi and his accompanying delegation.
At the start of the meeting, Hanna welcomed the delegation, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between Egypt and the Arab Parliament and commending its efforts to support joint Arab action and strengthen co-operation among Arab parliaments.
He affirmed that Egypt, under the guidance of its political leadership, attaches great importance to strengthening joint Arab action and supporting its institutions.
The meeting discussed ways to develop Arab parliamentary work, enhance co-operation among Arab parliamentary institutions and exchange expertise in parliamentary and legislative fields.
The participants also addressed ways to support and empower young people and expand their participation in parliamentary work and public life, helping to prepare a new generation of Arab parliamentary leaders capable of advancing joint Arab action.
Hanna stressed that the continued exchange of expertise and successful experiences would contribute to Arab integration and strengthen the ability of parliamentary institutions to serve Arab causes effectively.
For his part, Al Yamahi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting joint Arab action. He affirmed the Arab Parliament’s commitment to continued co-ordination with Egyptian institutions and to developing joint initiatives in support of Arab causes.
The two sides concluded by reaffirming their commitment to maintaining consultations and co-ordination in the coming period to strengthen co-operation between Egypt and the Arab Parliament and advance joint Arab parliamentary action.
