President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received today Algeria’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and delegations from both countries.

President Sisi reaffirmed the depth of relations between Egypt and Algeria and the historic bonds that unite the two brotherly nations.

He praised the positive momentum in bilateral ties in recent years. In this context, the President asked Ghrieb to convey his greetings to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and expressed his best wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Algeria.

For his part, the Algerian Prime Minister conveyed President Tebboune’s greetings to President Sisi. He also expressed Algeria’s keenness to continue working with Egypt to build on the understandings reached during President Tebboune’s visit to Cairo in October 2024, in a manner that further enhances bilateral co-operation.

The Algerian Prime Minister also extended congratulations to Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and on the election of Dr Khaled El-Anany as Director-General of UNESCO.

Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said that the meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields, including agriculture, industry, education, energy, and ICT.

The two sides also underscored the importance of intensifying political coordination on issues of mutual interest, whether bilaterally or within regional and international organisations.

In this regard, President Sisi welcomed the convening of the 9th session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee in Cairo, stressing the need to build on its outcomes in order to advance economic, trade, and investment co-operation.

The Presidency Spokesman stated that the meeting also addressed regional developments.

President Sisi said that Egypt continues to work with all parties to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as endorsed by the recent UN Security Council resolution, and to stabilise the ceasefire, prevent any violations, and ensure the sustained flow of humanitarian aid.
