Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call late on Thursday with Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf, during which both sides reaffirmed the depth of fraternal ties between Egypt and Algeria and discussed ways to further advance bilateral co-operation in various fields.
The two ministers stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and expanding co-operation in a manner that serves mutual interests and reflects the longstanding historic relations between the two countries.
He stressed the need to enhance coordination and consultation between the two sides in light of regional challenges, particularly developments in Libya, which remain a shared priority for both countries.
Both ministers underlined the importance of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s neighbouring countries and its role in coordinating common positions and harmonizing views.
Abdel-Aati also reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts and intensive contacts with regional and international actors to de-escalate tensions, reaffirming that dialogue and negotiation remain the only viable path to resolving the current crisis.
At the conclusion of the call, both sides agreed to continue close coordination and joint efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations and support regional stability.
