Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and Chairman of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association (EABA), Yosri El-Sharkawy, have discussed ways of further boosting industrial co-operation between Egypt and African nations.

The meeting reviewed the association’s efforts to support the expansion of Egyptian industrial companies across African markets and promote greater economic and industrial activity by the private sector in both Egypt and Africa.

Hashem said Egypt’s political leadership places great importance on deepening co-operation with African countries and developing trade relations into broader partnerships based on industrial integration and mutual interests.

He also stressed the need to make the best use of the resources and capabilities available in Egypt and across the continent.

The minister also highlighted the importance of benefiting from opportunities in African markets, building strategic partnerships, and advancing regional industrial integration, describing it as a key driver for increasing intra-African trade and maximising the value of Africa’s resources.

For his part, EABA’s El-Sharkawy said the association was established seven years ago and currently includes 390 Egyptian companies and 22 specialised sectoral committees, including an Industry Committee focused on supporting industrial development in Africa.

He added that the association provides a wide range of services aimed at promoting economic integration across the continent, supporting entrepreneurship, and encouraging digital transformation, contributing to stronger economic co-operation and sustainable development in Africa.
