Egypt’s General Intelligence Chief, Major General Hassan Rashad, met in Tripoli on Monday with Libya’s Prime Minister Abdulhamid Al-Dbeibahand a number of Libyan political, military and security officials.
This goes in line with the directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to advance the political settlement process in Libya, and as part of Egypt’s commitment to supporting its Libyan brothers in overcoming the current crisis.
Rashad also held talks in Cairo with Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar and Massad Boulos, adviser and envoy to the US president.
The meetings discussed ways to narrow differences between Libyan parties.
They also focused on supporting the unification of Libya’s institutions through a comprehensive Libyan-led process. The goal is to help move the country toward stability and prosperity.
