As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national healthcare system and support Egypt’s Vision 2030, Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar chaired a meeting with senior ministry officials to review proposals for the investment plan for fiscal year 2026/2027.

The discussions focused on increasing allocations for priority health projects and improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services provided to citizens nationwide.

Officials reviewed funding mechanisms aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure and modernising hospitals and medical centres with advanced medical equipment.

During the meeting, Abdel-Ghaffar stressed the importance of directing sufficient resources toward developing healthcare facilities and accelerating ongoing reform initiatives.

He highlighted the need to complete implementation phases of the Universal Health Insurance System in targeted governorates, while strengthening public health and preventive services to reduce disease spread and improve overall community health.

The minister also called for faster progress in the digital transformation of the healthcare sector.

This includes upgrading health offices and improving data management systems to enhance decision-making efficiency and ensure better integration across different healthcare sectors.

These measures aim to support the delivery of sustainable, high-quality healthcare services and contribute to building a healthier and more productive society.

In a related development, the General Authority for Accreditation and Healthcare Regulation announced that 32 healthcare facilities across several governorates had received either full or initial accreditation.

The move reflects continued progress in applying quality and patient safety standards in line with internationally recognised benchmarks set by the International Society for Quality in Health Care.

The decisions are part of broader national efforts to enhance the operational efficiency of healthcare facilities and prepare them to join the Universal Health Insurance System, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality services.

As part of preparations for the second phase of the programme, which will begin in Minya Governorate, authorities renewed the initial accreditation of the Minya Oncology Centre.

Initial accreditation was also granted to Samalut Oncology Hospital, Adwa Central Hospital, and Mallawi Liver and Digestive System Hospital.

Meanwhile, Alexandria General Military Hospital, affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services Department, also received initial accreditation, reflecting its commitment to implementing quality and patient safety standards in healthcare delivery.
