The Third International Defense Industries Exhibition “EDEX 2023” concluded its activities on Thursday.

It was held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and with the participation of major exhibitors and international companies in the field of armaments, defense and security industries at regional and international levels.

Various global military circles hailed the organisation of the EDEX 2023, bringing together a number of defence ministers, chiefs of staff, and high-level military delegations from various countries of the world.

During the event, the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production unveiled the “Raad 200,” the first Egyptian-made multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). The rocket launcher, which has been designed and manufactured by the Ministry of Military Production, is mounted on a tracked platform with a length of 6.3 metres, a width of 2.8 metres, and a height of 2.8 metres.

The system has an empty weight of 12.207 tonnes and can carry a payload of 4.7 tonnes.

It is fitted with a four-stroke 385 hp HD12 ZLG-M engine that gives the Raad 200 an operational range of 400 kilometres and a maximum speed of 45 km/h on-road and 27 km/h off-road. The Raad 200 is crewed by three men who can fire the rockets from inside the cabin, either one at a time or in bursts.

As part of its efforts to localise the latest manufacturing technologies for various defence industries, the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), has displayed 45 diverse products during the third edition of EDEX, taking place in Cairo from 4-7 December.

Minister of Defence and Military Production Mohamed Zaki and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Osama Askar inspected the exhibition’s various pavilions and hailed military items from various global, international and local companies of the latest equipment, technologies and advanced security systems in the field of defense industries.
