CAIRO – The Egyptian Council for Foreign Relations (ECFR), in its capacity as one of NGOs, expressed unwavering support of the stance of Egypt, its government and people, which totally rejects all proposals leading to the displacement of Palestinians and attempts to relocate Gaza’s residents.
The council, in a statement Sunday, expressed confidence in the stance of most of world countries and organizations that rejected the seizure of lands of others, saying such illegal measures would bring chaos and instability to the region.
It rejected statements issued by US President’s Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu which incite the seizure of Gaza’s territories and violate international law and the UN charter.
The council described Trump’s statements as a setback to the credibility of the United States as a major power that defends the rules and principles of international relations after the World War II.
It expressed astonishment at Trump’s attempt to displace the Gazans without a wider political plan ending the Middle East conflict and guaranteeing the self-determination of the Palestinian people.
It added that Trump’s statements ignore international efforts aimed at reconstructing the Palestinian enclave, ending the Israeli occupation and ensuring the inalienable rights of the Palestinians.
