President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated in a virtual speech during the Lebanon Donor Conference, which was held at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, that Egypt extends its helping hands to the international community to exert joint efforts to support Lebanon and grant its people a better future.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli raised the Egyptian flag on Hussein Tantawi dredger of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA). This happened during the launch of the new dredger on Wednesday which coincides with the sixth anniversary of opening the new Suez Canal.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri received on Wednesday a phone call from his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio, where they discussed the latest developments in Libya and Tunisia. Di Maio briefed Shoukry on the outcome of his recent visit to Libya and his meetings with Libyan parties.
Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed announced on Wednesday the receipt of shipment documents of two Covid-19 vaccines (AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson), which will arrive in Egypt next week. The AstraZeneca vaccine was agreed upon after cooperation with COVAX facility, while the Johnson & Johnson shipment came after cooperation with the African Union.
The second case of a child suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) has received injection as part of her gene therapy at Cairo’s Nasser Institute hospital. This comes as part of a presidential initiative to treat children with muscle atrophy at state expense, Health and Population Minister Hala Zayed said.
The Arab Women’s Championship for national women’s football teams affiliated to the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) will be held in Cairo on August 24 through September 6. Teams from Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Palestine and Lebanon will take part in the third edition of the tournament.
The Middle Egypt Electricity Distribution Company inked on Wednesday with the Sewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution a contract for extending electricity to about 20,000 feddans in East Owainat, in the New Valley Governorate, south-west Egypt, at a cost of LE190 million.
