CAIRO – Head of the Syndicate of Journalists Diaa Rashwan said Friday that up to 700 persons have been released by the Public Prosecution’s decisions or presidential pardons since the beginning of the national dialogue.
Rashwan, who is the General Coordinator of the National Political Dialogue, said in televised statements that this step would pave the way for the national dialogue to take place in a comfortable environment.
Everyone feels that the State has a real tendency to expand the public sphere, Rashwan said.
Earlier, the Journalists Syndicate welcomed a decree issued on Friday by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to pardon journalist Hisham Fouad.
In a statement, the syndicate thanked President Sisi, who has pardoned five journalists since the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
