Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zahir, inaugurated on Wednesday the Military Technical College (MTC) Annual International Scientific Conference.
Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa attended the event, alongside a number of ministers, commanders of major military branches, senior Armed Forces officers, military attachés, governors, university presidents, researchers, public figures, as well as cadets from military academies and the Police Academy.
Director of the Military Technical College, Major General Ashraf Diaa El-Din el-Bayoumi, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the continued support provided by the General Command of the Armed Forces to the college in order to enhance scientific and research activities.
He stressed the importance of benefiting from applied research and the need to develop it to keep pace with rapid advancements across various fields.

The conference, which runs for several days, includes six international scientific events aimed at boosting innovation and keeping up with research developments in modern applications. It is being held in a hybrid format, allowing scientific papers to be presented either in person or remotely via video conferencing. The objective is to strengthen integration between specialised research centres and enrich scientific research within the national system.
More than 500 scientific papers from 21 countries have been submitted across various engineering and technical disciplines, with participation from experts and scholars representing 55 foreign universities and 110 Egyptian universities and research centres.
The defence minister praised the outstanding performance of those responsible for developing the educational and research system at the college, commending their ability to utilise available capabilities to keep pace with the rapid scientific advancements across all disciplines.
He also stressed the importance of such conferences as a fertile environment for exchanging expertise and enabling researchers to connect with their counterparts in Egyptian and international universities and research institutions, thereby raising scientific and research standards in support of national development across all sectors.
