Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Ashraf Salem Zaher attended an annual ceremony hosted by the Armed Forces for sheikhs and elders of Egyptian tribes, marking the 53rd anniversary of the October War victories.
In his address, Head of the Military Intelligence Authority Major General Sherif Mohamed Fekry said the Armed Forces Command was keen to hold such events to reaffirm the close ties between the military and Egypt’s tribal communities. He added that they also renewed the commitment of both sides to work together to protect the country’s borders and preserve its security and stability.
The ceremony featured a series of artistic and patriotic performances celebrating national identity and pride.
Minister Zaher conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings and appreciation to the tribal sheikhs and elders. He reaffirmed the Armed Forces Command’s commitment to strengthening ties and maintaining close communication with tribal communities.
He stressed that protecting Egypt’s borders along all strategic directions was a shared responsibility that required concerted efforts and sustained co-operation between the Armed Forces and the tribes. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Egyptian tribes throughout history in defending the country and safeguarding its national interests.
In a closing address on behalf of Egypt’s tribal communities, a number of sheikhs and elders thanked the Armed Forces Command for the invitation and praised its efforts to organise events that reinforce national unity.
They said tribal communities recognised the scale of the challenges facing Egypt and rejected hostile statements by foreign parties concerning Egyptian territory. They also reaffirmed their support for the political leadership and the Armed Forces, pledging to stand ready to defend the country’s territory and protect its national interests.
