Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher returned to Egypt following the successful conclusion of his official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, accompanied by a high-level military delegation.

As part of the visit, Lt Gen Zaher held talks with Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Türkiye Yaşar Güler.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral military cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, military education, and the exchange of expertise between the Egyptian and Turkish Armed Forces.

The two ministers also co-chaired a high-level bilateral meeting, during which they reviewed opportunities to expand defence relations and deepen strategic cooperation. Both sides signed a Letter of Intent aimed at enhancing defence co-operation between Egypt and Türkiye.

The visit also included a meeting between Lt Gen Zaher and the President of the Turkish Defence Industries Agency (SSB), during which the two sides discussed prospects for expanding co-operation in defence industries.

The Commander-in-Chief was briefed on the agency’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and the latest developments in Turkish defence production.

The two sides signed a Letter of Intent to promote co-operation in the field of defence industries.

The agreement is expected to support the development of joint capabilities and contribute to reinforcing regional security and stability.

Lt Gen Zaher also visited the headquarters of several leading Turkish defence companies, where he reviewed advanced defence technologies and military equipment.

He also explored opportunities for future co-operation in military manufacturing.

The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both countries to expanding defence industrial partnerships, promoting the exchange of expertise, and supporting collective efforts to strengthen security and stability across the region.
