Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher stressed that safeguarding Egypt’s borders and protecting its national security remains a sacred mission requiring the highest levels of vigilance and preparedness. He affirmed that the Armed Forces is always ready to confront any threats with strength and resolve.

Zaher’s remarks came during a meeting held via video conference on Wednesday with personnel of the Southern Military Region.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa, commanders of the main branches, and a number of senior military officers attended the event.

During the meeting, Commander of the Southern Military Region Osama Samir Abdel Latif asserted that the defenders of the southern strategic sector continue to maintain a high state of combat preparedness to carry out all assigned tasks to protect the nation and preserve its sanctities, regardless of the sacrifices required.

Minister Zaher conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the troops of the Southern Military Region, praising their dedication, high morale, and unwavering determination in maintaining stability along Egypt’s southern borders.

He commended the region’s vital role in combating smuggling and illegal gold mining, as well as its contributions to boosting civilian communities within its area of responsibility.

The defence minister also reviewed regional and international developments and their implications on Egypt’s national security. He stressed the importance of raising awareness among military personnel of the evolving challenges and the state’s efforts to address them. He said that the Armed Forces operate with the highest levels of alertness, guided by a firm belief that places the nation’s interests above all else.

Zaher highlighted the importance of human development as a cornerstone of institutional advancement, calling for continued efforts to enhance the scientific, cultural, and training capabilities of the personnel. He also urged troops to maintain peak combat readiness and ensure the technical efficiency of weapons and equipment to remain fully prepared to defend the nation and safeguard its resources.
