CAIRO– Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem said Tuesday that the 53rd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair is held under the rubric of “Identity”, believing this comes as part of Egypt’s 2030 vision that has the building of mankind in its heart.

The Culture Ministry is working on that aspect, Abdel Dayem said in statements to MENA, noting that such rubric, “Identity” indicates that peoples who know their identities are capable of building their present and future.

She made it clear that her Ministry is implementing a number of projects and initiatives meant to preserve the Egyptian identity. Abdel Dayem cited the “Lived Here”, “Story of a Street”, “Story of a City” and “Egypt’s People” projects that are designed to achieve that.

The minister also touched upon an “Egypt’s Craftsmen” initiative, which aims to train and create new generations of craftsmen, who represent a genuine part of the Egyptian identity.

The 53rd Cairo International Book Fair comes only six months after the 52nd edition, which, according to Abdel Dayem, sends a message that the Egyptian state is keen on resuming normal life despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Culture, she noted, remains one of Egypt’s diplomatic arms and soft powers.
