Culture minister launches “The People’s Cinema” project in Egypt’s governorates

Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem launched a project named “The People’s Cinema” which aims at displaying the contemporary cinematic works at affordable prices to all segments of the society.

In statements on Tuesday, Abdel Dayem said the project will be implemented through cooperation between the governorates’ cultural palaces and cinema houses affiliated to the General Authority for Cultural Places.

She said the project will start on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, adding that this project reflects the state’s belief in the role of arts and culture as soft powers in formulating the people’s awareness in addition to providing the chance for displaying the works of creative people and artists for the various categories of the society.

Abdel Dayem said the first phase of the project will start in four governorates namely; Alexnadira, Menufiya, Giza and Qena, while the second phase will cover four others. The ticket will cost LE40, she added.
