Senior citizens suffering from chronic diseases Friday received anti-Covid-19 vaccine for the second day in a row within the national inoculation campaign.
The campaign, started on Thursday with patients with chronic diseases, cancer, kidney failure and heart conditions who deserve priority in the vaccination programme.
Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed revealed yesterday that 1,141 seniors with chronic illnesses had received vaccine shots on the first day of the rollout.
Health service staff, especially at the nation’s isolation hospitals, received shots prior to vulnerable groups.
The Ministry of Health is receiving applications for vaccination on a website it launched on Sunday.
Those who want to get vaccine shots have to register on the website, with their national ID number and phone numbers to take their turn in the vaccination process.
Seniors who do not suffer from chronic diseases will be given priority in the next phase of the vaccine rollout. They will be followed by other age groups within the population.
Foreigners and refugees also have the right to register themselves on the website, the Ministry of Health and Population said.
The ministry has specified 40 vaccination centres, including three in Cairo and four in Giza.
