Egyptian Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid on Sunday met Commander of the US Central Command Lieutenant General Kenneth McKenzie and his accompanying delegation now on an official visit to Egypt to follow up the activities of “Bright Star 2021” joint drill, Armed Forces Spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez said.

The drill activities are scheduled to continue at the Mohamed Naguib military base until September 17, he added.

Discussions at the Farid-Mckenzie meeting covered a number of topics related to training and its importance as a fertile ground for exchanging expertise between all participating elements and for getting acquainted with the latest trends in various military specialisations, Spokesman Abdel Hafez said in the statement posted on his official Facebook page.

Lt. Gen. Farid stressed the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to follow up on all activities that are implemented on a daily basis and to create the atmosphere that enables the participating elements to carry out all training tasks and activities.

For his part, the commander of the US Central Command praised the repercussions that the training creates in international military circles, expressing his admiration for the ability of the Egyptian Armed Forces to organise this joint drill, considered one of the most important and largest exercises carried out in the Middle East, the spokesman said.

The Chief of Staff and the Commander of the US Central Command toured the command and control centres to follow up on the functioning mechanisms that depend on joint planning to manage training tasks.

The commander of the Central Command also praised the high combat efficiency of all the elements participating in the drill as well as the training and administrative capabilities of the base and the training fields equipped to train various combat and specialised elements.
