Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, witnessed on Thursday the final phase of the joint Egyptian-American military exercise codenamed ‘Bright Star 2025’, which concluded with a series of advanced naval and combined arms training activities.

Chief of the General Staff of the Hellenic Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Choupis, alongside senior commanders from the Egyptian Armed Forces and military delegations from participating nations attended the event.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General Khalifa commended the high level of professionalism, discipline, and coordination demonstrated by the participating forces.

He emphasised that the advanced combat capabilities of the participated forces reflected the deep operational understanding and mutual co-operation, as well as the successful implementation of complex training scenarios under realistic conditions.

“The professionalism and precision exhibited by all units affirm our collective ability to conduct high-level joint operations in defence of regional and international security,” Lieutenant General Khalifa stated.

He further expressed hope for broader participation in future editions of ‘Bright Star’, noting that the integration of diverse military doctrines enhances interoperability and strengthens international military collaboration.

The final phase of Bright Star 2025 featured a range of naval and combined forces operations, including countering asymmetric threats, artillery engagements, vessel boarding and search, amphibious assaults, parachute insertions, and coordinated airstrikes on coastal targets.

Ground units also conducted security operations and repelled simulated enemy landings, highlighting the operational readiness and adaptability of all forces involved.

Lieutenant General Dimitrios Choupis praised the cohesion and high performance of the multinational units, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in maintaining readiness and regional stability.

On the sidelines of the exercise, Lieutenant General Khalifa met Regional Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Nicholas von Arx and expressed appreciation for the ICRC’s participation and contributions to Bright Star 2025.

He acknowledged the organisation’s important role in supporting international humanitarian law and enhancing the humanitarian dimension within modern military operations.
