Reports of a cholera outbreak in several governorates are “utterly without foundation”.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Cabinet Information Centre on Thursday, the Health and Population Ministry stated categorically that no cholera cases have been reported in Egypt.
Quarantine authorities at sea- and airports are observing strict measures regarding travellers who arrive from those countries where the disease is prevalent, the statement added.
The centre urged all media outlets to check the accuracy and truth of any reports before publication or broadcast.
