The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) received on Wednesday a high-level delegation from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China, to discuss opportunities for expanding economic and investment co-operation and strengthening industrial partnerships between the two sides.
The delegation was headed by Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China of Jiangsu Province and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee in Nanjing, Zhou Hongbo.
It also included Minister Plenipotentiary at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Zhao Liuqing, alongside senior officials from the Nanjing Municipal Government, representatives of economic and commercial institutions, and executives from Chinese companies operating in international trade, logistics, medical industries, and engineering sectors.
The visit came as a follow-up to the outcomes of the Nanjing-Cairo Economic and Trade Co-operation Forum held in Cairo on 22 June 2026.
Vice Chairman of SCZone for the Southern Region, Ahmed Gamal, together with a number of senior officials from the authority received the delegation.
Discussions focused on prospects for enhancing co-operation between the SCZone and Nanjing, particularly in strategic sectors including new and renewable energy, automotive manufacturing and components, and medical industries.
Both sides commended the continued growth of Chinese investments within the SCZone, noting that Chinese companies have become a key contributor to industrial and investment activity across the zone.
This reflects the growing confidence of the Chinese business community in the investment climate and business environment offered by the authority.
The meeting also reviewed the competitive advantages of the SCZone, including the integration of ports and industrial zones, advanced infrastructure, and the one-stop-shop model, which facilitates procedures and accelerates project implementation.
The two sides underscored the importance of deepening co-operation during the coming period to attract additional industrial investments and further strengthen the economic partnership between Egypt and China.
