Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdalla met on Tuesday with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa to review progress on the Future Scientists Scholarship, a national initiative launched by CBE in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education to support outstanding Egyptian university students.

The two sides discussed preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year and the admission of a new cohort of students under the initiative’s second phase.

They also reviewed the initiative’s achievements during the 2025/2026 academic year, highlighting its role in supporting high-achieving students across Egypt’s governorates.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining co-operation to nurture outstanding students and promising young researchers, describing them as a cornerstone for building the skilled national workforce needed to drive Egypt’s long-term development.

Abdalla said the CBE attaches great importance to supporting higher education and scientific research in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

He stressed that investing in talented students is an investment in the country’s future.

He described the ‘Future Scientists Scholarship’ initiative as a successful model of co-operation between state institutions, the banking sector and civil society to provide equal educational opportunities for outstanding students and equip them with the scientific and research skills required for regional and global market.

For his part, Minister Konsowa commended the banking sector for supporting higher education through corporate social responsibility initiatives that expand access to quality education for high-achieving students.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the sustainability of the Future Scientists Scholarship and expanding partnerships with state institutions to provide greater support for outstanding students.
