CAIRO – The Central Bank of Egypt, in cooperation with the Finance Ministry, finalized replacing payroll cards for 4.1 million state employees with Meeza cards.
The government seeks to replace payroll cards for 4.3 million public servants.
Meeza is Egypt’s national payment system which is part of the government’s strategy geared towards digital transformation and financial inclusion.
The bank said the card provides all banking services, including deposits, withdrawals, and other transactions. It also allows employees to pay government dues using cashless methods and the online point of sale system (PoS).
Moreover, state employees can withdraw, free of charge, up to 30 percent of their salary in advance during the first six months of using Meeza. (MENA)
