The Central Bank of Egypt board approved extending the deadline from December 31, 2022 to the end of December 2023 for banks that have not so far increased their credit facilities portfolio to companies and micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to 25 per cent.
The measure is meant to encourage banks to continue financing these projects which are vital for economic growth.
This came in a letter sent to banks on Thursday.
