The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Tuesday revealed that the monthly inflation rate went up 1 per cent in July compared with the same period in 2020.
Egypt’s monthly inflation rate stood at 114.4 points in July; rising by 1 per cent.
While, the annual inflation rate upped by 1.5 per cent to register 6.1 per cent compared to 4.6 per cent during the same period in 2020, CAPMAS said in a report.
The most important reasons behind this uptick is the increase in prices of food and beverages that went up by 6 per cent in July, as well as meat and poultry, which increased by 1.2 per cent, CAPMAS added.
Also, prices of vegetables increased by 1.1 per cent, other food products by 0.6 per cent, CAPMAS added.
