Egypt’s Minister of International Co-operation Rania el-Mashat received on Saturday the President of the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI), Jechuk Yoo, who is on a visit to Cairo, leading a high-level delegation from his country.

Mashat hailed what she described as ‘distinguished’ relations and strategic partnerships between Egypt and South Korea.

She said Egypt’s political leadership attaches paramount importance to developing the environmental sector and achieving sustainable and comprehensive development.

The current development-financing portfolio between Egypt and South Korea totals $473 million.

It covers several sectors, including higher education and training, information technology, transport, health and industry, the minister said.

She added that future co-operation between the two countries is promising, especially in industrial localisation.

“South Korea is fully ready to support Egypt in making preparations for the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in November 2022,” the Korean official said.

He referred to an Egyptian desire to benefit from his country’s experience in this field.
