Egypt and Saudi Arabia urged all parties to commit to the Gaza ceasefire and to implement the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, during a meeting in Jeddah on Monday between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

According to the presidential spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed El‑Shenawy, President El Sisi was received at the Crown Prince’s private residence, where the leaders took part in a closed bilateral meeting followed by a Ramadan iftar hosted in El Sisi’s honour.

President Sisi expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and conveyed his greetings to King Salman. He also congratulated the Crown Prince on Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed the strength of the long‑standing ties between the two nations and his desire to deepen cooperation.

The talks focused heavily on the situation in Gaza. Both sides stressed the need to uphold the ceasefire, ensure unhindered humanitarian aid delivery, and begin early recovery and reconstruction efforts. They reiterated their rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians and emphasised that a comprehensive political process leading to a two‑state solution remains essential.

The leaders also discussed regional and international developments, underscoring the importance of avoiding escalation, supporting peaceful solutions to crises, and strengthening Arab solidarity. They reaffirmed respect for state sovereignty and the need to prevent external interference in domestic affairs.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to intensify political consultation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to support regional stability.
