King Hamad bin Isa of Bahrain has lauded Egypt’s role as a pillar of stability in the Middle East and reiterated that views between his country and Egypt are in accord over ways of dealing with current regional challenges.
The Bahiraini monarch’s remarks came during his meeting with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri who paid a one-day visit to Manama on Sunday. Minister Shoukri handed over to King Hamad a written message from President Abdel Fattah Sisi, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
In the message, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s appreciation of the Bahraini people and their leadership and extended an invitation to King Hamad to visit Cairo, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement.
President Sisi also stressed the necessity of enhancing bilateral relations and coordination between the two countries regarding regional developments, spokesman Hafez added.
During the meeting, Minister Shoukri affirmed Egypt’s keenness on maintaining continuous coordination and consultation with Bahrain regarding the successive regional developments as part of the two countries’ efforts to bring peace to the region and to promote political solutions to its crises away from regional interferences or harmful interactions.
Minister Shoukri made special reference in this context to Egypt’s firm position towards Arab Gulf security and the stability of its countries as an integral and indivisible part of Egypt’s national security, Spokesman Hafez said.
